We have over one hundred members across South Lakeland and the Furness Peninsula. Our aim is to promote the craft of beekeeping and to give help and advice to people interested in keeping bees
An Independent, Member-Run Association
Furness Beekeepers is an independent beekeeping association and is not affiliated to any other body or group therefore the subscription you pay stays within your association.
It is run by its members for the benefit of its members.
It is a registered non profit making charity, all subscriptions, donations and money we earn is ploughed back into the association.
Lessons at our Apiaries
Classes are held throughout the beekeeping season from 10.30 till 12.00 on Saturday mornings for new and potential beekeepers to learn the essentials of beekeeping.
We have protective clothing you can use until you are certain you would like to keep bees, but please bring your own wellingtons if you have them.
Some of our experienced members will act as mentors for new members, giving help and advice at your own hives until you feel confident to work alone.

Our Apiaries
Essentially our apiaries are to teach people the art of bee keeping but they are also open for existing bee keepers to refresh their knowledge. Our first apiary was in Gleaston and in 2017 we opened a second one at Haverthwaite. In 2020 the Gleaston site was moved to Outcast in Ulverston.
